Environmental Comparison
The ATmaP® Surface Treatment Technology offers customers in the global
plastics finishing industry the primary benefit of enhancing adhesion of
coatings to polymeric substrates without the use of expense and
environmentally damaging Adhesion Promoting Primers.
With the key components of Adhesion Promoting Primers being CPO resins,
which require a substantial amount of solvents to bring them to a
sprayable viscosity (6.5lb to 7lb per gallon) and with solid contents of
less that 10%, it is easy to see how a technology of this kind can raise
many environmental concerns.
ATmaP® is an environmentally friendly process with no discharge of solvents (VOCs), and therefore no need
for expensive abatement systems,
or alike. Because no abatement systems are required there is generally a much lower capital cost compared to current processes requiring abatement systems.
The ATmaP® process may be the difference in a company being able to:
• Setup a new plant where the discharging of VOC’s is not permitted;
• Continue operating a plant when their environmental license has been
reduced or revoked;
• Increase their production capacity when they have reached their VOC limits.
A company that uses ATmaP® may be eligible to receive environmental credits. They will be seen as a good corporate citizen
due to the reduction in solvent discharge into the
surrounding atmosphere.
